Convenors’ Letter (October 2016)

Dear members and friends of the Husserl Circle,

It is a great pleasure for us to announce that the 48th Annual Meeting of the Husserl Circle will be held on July 5-8 (Wednesday through Saturday), 2016, at Rethymno, Crete under the auspices of the University of Crete, Greece.

The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2017 (12pm GMT). Your submissions should be prepared for blind review and can be sent to pantheo@fks.uoc.gr or fotini_vassiliou@yahoo.gr. Presenters will have approximately 30 minutes (about 3900 words). You can submit either a full paper with a short 150-word abstract or a more substantial abstract (about 500 words) outlining the paper in a clear manner. Preference will be given to full paper submissions. Especially welcome for the next Husserl Circle meeting will be papers on issues related to aesthetics, politics, and action.  Decisions will be communicated by March 1, 2017.

The conference venue is located at the town of Rethymno and is surrounded by many hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars. We will suggest specific hotels which will offer reduced prices. Limited number of rooms at special prices (€ 30 per night, for single bed rooms) will be available at a cozy small hotel (“The House of Europe”) owned by the local University. Generally speaking, price ranges start from about € 40-50 for nice hotels like Brascos or Jo An and raise up to € 70-90 at elegant hotels like the Kyma, Ideon Hotel, et., or to € 100-130 at luxury places like the Hotel Fortezza, Rimondi Boutique Hotel, Bellagio Luxury Boutique Hotel, etc.

In case you have any questions, please feel free to contact Panos Theodorou (pantheo@fks.uoc.gr) or Fotini Vassiliou (fotini_vassiliou@yahoo.gr). A site especially dedicated to information about the 48th Husserl Circle meeting is under construction (its link will appear here: http://www.fks.uoc.gr/english/index.php).

We look forward to welcoming you in Rethymno next July!

Cretan greetings to all of you,

the convenors:
Panos Theodorou and Fotini Vassiliou.
